The Seussing!

Apologies to Stanley and Stephen

By Kendall Defoe Published about 10 hours ago 3 min read
They beat me to it?

Note: I had this in rough for a while, and it does not cover the whole story, but I thought I had to finally share what I have saved. It made me laugh and it works for fans of the book or the movie.

Enjoy!

Introduction:

This is the story of a family of three:

Jack and Wendy and little Danny.

They stayed at a hotel called Overlook.

The father wanted to finish a book.

The mother wanted to see new sights.

Little Danny just wanted to ride his bike.

But there was a serious problem with this spot.

No one seems to have given it a thought.

Another man and his own small family

Tried the same thing once, you see,

And the father took an axe and chopped them in two,

Mother and two daughters (like Things 1 & 2!)

Now Jack knew the story from an interview;

The caretaker got mad and blew a fuse.

But Jack thought, “Well, it doesn’t matter.

I’m a good dad; Wendy’s a good mother.

We can use that time in the fresh air,

Beautiful views, and have not a care.”

Wendy did not know what to expect.

Too much was happening to imagine that, next

She’d be able to get little Danny some care

Somewhere peaceful, clean, with lots of fresh air.

You see, Danny had a problem, or a gift, maybe.

He could see things others never could see.

He had an invisible friend, speaking through a finger.

He had complete dreams where visions would linger.

And what did he learn about this incredible thing?

He would soon learn a lot. It was…The Seussing!

Danny Sees the Twins:

So, Danny on his Big Wheel,

Rides all through the hotel.

He likes the new rooms

(he thinks it’s all swell!)

But then, he sees something

In front and in plain view.

The same two little girls,

Like Thing 1 and Thing 2!

The same ones he saw

On his very first day.

And all they said was,

“Danny, come on; let’s play!”

*

Wendy at the Typewriter:

Wendy was scared (where was her Jack?).

There was only the typewriter,

And paper in a stack.

“Aha!” thought Wendy.

“Jack’s finished his book!

I don’t think he’ll mind if I take a look.”

She picked up the first page and felt a great shock.

It hit her hard, like a brick or a rock.

What did it mean?

Was it meant to annoy?

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”!

*

Wendy in the Bathroom/Jack with the Axe:

She hid in the bathroom with a large carving knife.

Jack carried an axe and looked for his wife.

He knew she was hiding;

He knew she was scared.

Mr. Grady gave him a chance,

And this time, he cared.

Why did his wife lock him up all alone?

This was his job; this was their home.

She really didn’t love him

(the ghosts made that clear)

She used to – for sure –

Now he was something to fear…

I will finish this some day. At the moment, I have a lot to handle with work and some other projects but I hope you at least get a little bit of a laugh from this.
