Small Talk With Sheila Podcast

Where the mundane meets the magical

Small Talk with Sheila is one of my personal favorite podcasts,” says Andreea Coscai of Eurowaves. “I discovered it while award-judging, and it instantly became my comfort show. Sheila discusses many issues women face from their 20s to their 50s, ranging from dating and relationships to self-love and friendships.”

Andreea Coscai is an experienced and keen evaluator of podcast talent, so I checked into the show. Andreea was right.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Small Talk with Sheila is releasing new episodes dedicated to helping women step into their “main character energy.”

Hosted by creator Sheila Kazan, the podcast blends rom-com charm with real-life emotional clarity, offering listeners witty, grounded advice on chasing joy and reinventing themselves without having to burn their lives down first.

Small Talk with Sheila focuses on women navigating their mid-20s to late-50s who are burned out on toxic positivity and perfect wellness trends. The show offers 10- to 15-minute audio voice notes that feel like a conversation with your funniest, most self-aware friend.

For Women’s Month, creator/host Sheila Kazan is flipping the script on how women view personal growth, challenging the narrative that a woman must hit rock bottom to transform.

The Women’s Month Lineup Includes:

● The Breakup Glow-Up (Without the Breakup): An episode proving that you don’t need a heartbreak to have a breakthrough. Sheila shares advice on how listeners can declutter their lives, say “yes” to what lights them up, and manifest a revenge-level glow-up while life is actually going well.

● Main Character Energy: Drawing from her experiences dating men who made her feel like an “extra” and growing up as an Iranian-American immigrant daughter, Sheila explores how women learn to audition for supporting roles — and what it looks like to finally make choices like the protagonist of your own life.

● Fall in Love with You: This episode goes beyond bubble baths and cute mantras. Sheila explores the deeper, quieter kind of self-love rooted in self-trust, standards, and seeing yourself as the main character of your own life. Because once you truly choose yourself, everything else starts to align.

“I’ve always loved rom-com heroines because they’re not perfect. They’re messy. They make mistakes. Not only that, but they feel everything. But we root for them because they’re living as the main character of their own life. In a world that feels heavy right now, I want women to feel a little lighter. You don’t need to be flawless to be the lead. You just need to show up for your own story,” says Sheila Kazan.

In each episode, Sheila takes listeners on a journey through her daily adventures, reflecting on everything from her self-help obsession to the peculiarities of her neighbors (including that one who always flips her off). With a blend of wit, warmth, and wisdom, Sheila shares the stories and life lessons that have shaped her into the person she is today.

Sheila Kazan has worked in Design Operations at tech companies like Meta and Slack. By night, she is developing her creative career through storytelling, podcasting, and screenwriting. After navigating divorce and a season of deep reinvention, Sheila’s life unexpectedly led her to a very real meet cute that reshaped how she thinks about love, intuition, and timing.

I recommend this show because Sheila’s squeaky voice is adorable, and only overshadowed by her humor, warmth, earnest wisdom, and wit. Sheila’s perspective is honest and warm, shaped by ambition, kindness, and a belief that you do not have to be hard to grow.

As an Iranian-American woman often underestimated for her size, Sheila brings tiny but mighty energy to conversations about identity, voice, and taking up space.

Sheila says: “I live my life as if I am the main character of my own rom-com, and I encourage others to do the same because we get one shot to tell our story.”

Her episodes are short, 10 to 15 minutes, and can be consumed on a commute to work. One of my favorite shows was in December and was titled "Let’s Talk About Abundance (and the Cookie Jar Theory)." In the episode, Sheila asks What if abundance isn’t something you manifest, but something you practice?

Small Talk with Sheila is wisdom in a to-go container. While it’s obviously geared toward women, Sheila uncorks insights for listeners that anyone can use.
