Everybody Pulls The Tarp Podcast

Creator/host Andrew Moses explains his show this way: “I independently host my own weekly podcast, Everybody Pulls The Tarp, and have interviewed over 240+ Olympians, pro athletes, TV personalities, Broadway stars, Grammy winners, best-selling authors, & other high-performers about their success secrets and the power of leading by example.”

With the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games currently being held, Moses says: “I’ve interviewed over 25 Olympians the past 5+ years — including four who are competing in the Milan-Cortina games in February.”

Moses insists that, “I’m on a mission to build a world full of tarp pullers — a world where people never say that’s not my job and do whatever it takes to help their organization, team, and community succeed.”

Moses has attached his show to a leadership and teamwork philosophy — Everybody pulls the tarp — which means that everyone in an organization — regardless of title, seniority, or job description — must be willing to do whatever it takes, including unpleasant, unexpected, or menial work, to ensure the team succeeds. It promotes a “no job is beneath me” mentality.

​Andrew Moses is currently the Vice President of Growth at Highspring and formerly a long-time executive at MorganFranklin Consulting. He is acknowledged as a business growth leader. He lives in the Washington, D.C., area with his wife, Lauren, and two young daughters.

Andrew Moses was born and raised in New Jersey. He went to Penn State University and started his career as a CPA. Over the years, his career has evolved into work in finance and technology consulting, and he’s held executive leadership roles in sales, marketing, and branding.

Andrew Moses has long been passionate about building new relationships, learning from others, and connecting with like-minded people.

Living in the Washington, DC area, Andrew spends time with my family finding the best bagels and pizza (which is a tough task in the Washington, DC Metro Area as compared to my days in NJ). He’s also waiting for a New York Mets World Series parade, rooting on the Penn State Nittany Lions, and reading books.

Though a standard interview podcast, Moses does a lot right on his show. First, he always explains the show at the beginning of each episode. His interviewing style draws out the best in his guests, and he exudes an infectious enthusiasm. Moreover, his interviews are not excessively long and tightly edited.

Moses also has a weekly Tuesday TARP Find mini-episode that averages about two minutes. In it, Moses narrates a brief story of kindness, sacrifice, charity, or team building. Subjects of the short episodes have included Taylor Swift, Rory McIlroy, and Shohei Ohtani.

​Andrew Moses notes: “Everybody Pulls The Tarp is a mantra I live by. It is a lesson I learned many years ago as a front-office intern for a minor-league baseball team. On my first day, a front office executive told me to keep a pair of old clothes at the ballpark so I could help the grounds crew pull the tarp on and off the field on rainy days. I learned that minor league grounds crews are typically smaller than their major league counterparts. The field is the same size and the same work needs to be done, but there are a lot fewer people to do it. As a result, others in the organization often help to get the job done.”

Everybody Pulls The Tarp is not only for hard-charging execs or those in competitive jobs. I love the “everybody pulls the tarp” mantra and what it stands for: that no job is beneath me. Moses’s philosophy is similar to servant leadership, which holds that a servant leader focuses on followers’ needs rather than their own, fostering an inclusive environment.
