Karma Does Not Forget

I have seen it circle back, slow and certain,

not in thunder, not in noise, but in quiet hours,

when a man sits alone with what he has done,

and the walls begin to answer him.

You can walk far, you can change your name,

you can dress your wrongs in softer words,

but there is something that keeps a record,

deep in the marrow, where truth does not bend.

I have watched kindness return like warm bread,

placed gently into empty hands at the right time,

and I have watched cruelty rot from the inside,

until even laughter sounds like breaking glass.

Do not think it forgets, it does not sleep,

it waits in the ordinary days you overlook,

in the faces you pass without care,

in the words you throw like they mean nothing.

There is a balance that does not shout,

a scale that tips without warning or witness,

and when it moves, it moves completely,

no bargain, no plea, no turning away.

So walk carefully through the lives of others,

leave something good where you have stood,

because what you send out will find you again,

and it will arrive knowing your name.
