Skybath

Spring fever

I can’t get anything done,

all I can think of is sap rising,

Pistils and stamen exploding,

Stiff rods with soft crowns

Cream and sugar

without coffee

Heat rising, center broadcasting,

heat-seeking missiles

in the electric air,

pulsating, pushing through

clouds, thick and white:

cumulus, striated, heavy

with rain they can’t hold

much longer,

cloudburst overdue

nature poetry
