the night
Say It Plainly

the moon shines too brightly tonight
I know where you might be
where they draw the blinds and midnight oil
burns incessantly until the last dawn
where the sun never rises and the voices are loud
as well as vices outweighing the virtues of the crowd
where there is no mercy for a good man
where savages rule the world with their depraved mouths and hands
demanding things here and now, without delay
screaming and cursing, mean, merely men
just beasts on the loose, hungry for blood
even if the result is fair, they will take revenge
on you or things that have no defects
this is how people make this world
of vestiges of dignity that drown in the sea
thrown straight into the trash
while the fox longs for a new game
it squeaks like an old sheet
demanding what’s real
to be the bait
but as long as he goes his own way
not catalogued and registered
everything else
it certainly won’t share the same fate
and this is the sad story of what human race
has become
inhuman, first in its league
let’s raise a toast to them
vultures at a feast, agape, lost on the way
