The Tides of Melancholy

On the back and forth, dark, stormy waters of mental illness

Within the depths of the rivers of woe,

the radiant sun has since lost his way,

and having nowhere left for me to go,

I turn my back and leave behind the Day.

The waters welcome back their Chosen One.

Her cold seeps deep into my skin and bones.

The creatures of the deep blue come undone,

and dance and twirl with me inside our home.

I know that I will see the Sun again,

but I am Shadow-Touched, and so I stay

returning to the darkness now and then

for I can never keep their claws at bay.

Those talons same that scratch and scrape my face,

strike at my enemies and keep me safe.
