bombs dropping on schools gas prices climbing fumes drifting through hoods
oh, fudgy delight eating ice cream for dinner belly softly jiggles
smiles bloom across sky laughter chasing away clouds kite drifting on wind

empty streets at dusk doors locked, curtains pulled tightly dogs mimic sirens
morning light on deck icy coffee meets my lips sun teases summer
stiff fingers trying child-proof cap resists today ibuprofen safe
bathroom floor at night a tear drips from my red nose splat on the cold tile
