A Pride in Country Music
It doesn't take a genius to figure out when you hear the words Pride and Country Music, you automatically think of Charley Pride. Charley was not only a great country sing, but also the first African American ever in country music. Charley grew up in Mississippi picking cotton, the son of a poor share cropper. His father listened to the Grand Ole Opry all the time. It wasn't uncommon for Charley to be singing along with Chet Atkins, Bill Monroe. The old timers of country music. Charley had a great career spanning many decades. I discovered Charley in 1974 and I have loved his music ever since. Skin color didn't matter to me.

Indie Music Madness: A Seven-Song Playlist of March Minglers
March is a fascinating month, particularly in the Philadelphia region. It's a grab bag of unpredictable weather conditions. The month starts out rather cold and snowy, just like this playlist. But before you know it β like this playlist too β sun starts sneaking through. However, just when you're getting comfortable and relaxing into radiant rays of sunshine (also like this playlist) a surprise snow squall cold snaps you back to reality. But before you can get your thermals back on, the ground thaws again. This time for good. The mingling of snow and sun is over and spring is here to stay.

O Canada. Our Home and Favourite Bands
This piece is in response to a post from the Facebook group Vocal Writing Prompts, run by Julie Smith. It is a fun group which I highly recommend for anyone who may be suffering from writerβs block, or just simply a lack of inspiration. In the group, prompts are given for group members as an idea to write a story/poem. The current one is for a playlist of your top ten favourite songs from any genre, and the reason why you chose them.

A Playlist For A Muse
My Muse often tells me my choice of music is weird, and she is not the only one. A lot of music, when I hear it, reminds me of her and brings me closer to her. Some of these songs make me think of her, and maybe she will listen and think my choice is not so weird after all.

Indie Music Madness: A Seven-Song Playlist of Winter Wonders
Some people are beach bunnies. Not me. I'm more of a snow bunny. So here is an Arctic offering to the glacial gods, seven gelid jams, as I pray for just one badass blizzard this year.

Screw Love Spotify Playlist
I have a warped perception of love. I know that. I feel very differently about myself because of that. On Valentine's Day, just about two years ago now, I gave myself the greatest gift of all... my own house for me and my two kids. I was expecting my second child when I moved into my current place. After all the pain I had gone through, I wanted a new place to love. I moved into my new three-bedroom home back in February 2020 before the pandemic began. I had so many good intentions with this new home. It was really close to family members and playgrounds. I had decided that it was a new place for happy memories. That's what I told myself with this gift for us. Who was I kidding back then. After years of asking someone to love me on my birthday and those important days like Christmas and well I don't know Valentine's Day, I decided to give up on love and just love myself in any way shape or form possible.

Me On Country
Last year, an admin on a Facebook group Iβm in started a playlist. She invited every single member to submit their favorite songs onto said playlist. To say that we went all out would be an understatement. Over a thousand members within this group submitted at least twenty if not more of their favorite songs from their personal playlists, ultimately creating a mega playlist.

Best Road Trip Songs for Your Next Road Trip Playlist. Top Story - February 2022.
When you have to overcome hundreds of miles, you can get tired very quickly. The monotony of movement may quickly replace a positive attitude and expectations with despondency. At such moments, there is a need for a positive charge of energy. The most effective way to get it is to listen to the right trip songs.

Trying to write a top ten
One of my favourite djs, ironically on a talk station, often mentions writing a top hundred of his favourite songs . Then the plan was to make a play list, sounds like a good idea doesn't it? The answer depends on how important music is to you and how much of your life it inhabits.

Deserted Island Disc
I recently heard of the Deserted Island Disc. This is exactly what it sounds like -- a 'disc' of eight songs that are the only eight songs you can take with you to a deserted island. As a lover of all things music, this sounded both impossible and like a super fun challenge. After a week of diliberating, listening to songs over and over to make sure my selection wasn't going to get old quickly, and even conspiring with my friend over an Applebee's 2 for $20, I finally pinned down a (tentative but pretty great) Deserted Island Disc.
