The Non-Obvious Halloween Playlist
This is not your upbeat playlist, not that it's very downbeat either. The songs are moody, violent, disturbing, with shades dark humor. Halloween celebrates the weird, the outcast, and the feared. Both grim and smiling faces are suitable. For one night the world attempts to face its fears and laugh at them collectively. Halloween invites us to be different and a little insane.

The Midnight Hour
The moon is full as a cold crisp breeze wallows through the air. The leaves that were once abundant on the trees fall down gracefully like Olympic divers in a crystal clear pool. It's the time for ghouls, ghosts and a myriad of spooky and creepy creatures to run about. It's the time of year when howls in the wind send shivers down spines. Halloween is upon us. For some it involves door to door candy dressed up as princesses, cowboys and spacemen. For others, it's time to watch scary movies such as: The Shining, Child's Play and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Other still will want to dress proactively either hoping to score or just show off the goods.

Graveyard Smash Playlist Vol. 01
Halloween, otherwise called All Hallows' Eve or All Saints’ Eve is celebrated on October 31. It can be traced back to the ancient Pagan festival of Samhain, where people used to dress in costumes to ward off ghosts. As with most traditions, as time and cultures change and merge, rituals change. Halloween today is a fun festival full of fancy-dress ups, sugar filled jars, and joy. It is no longer about celebrating the dead. It is about celebrating monsters and ghouls and all things spooky. It has nearly been forgotten that Halloween is also the time when the veil between the realms is at its thinnest.

A Clean Spookalicious Soundtrack
Music is my favorite way to connect with the world. Everything I do has a soundtrack. Reading a classic? Orchestral music is playing in the background. Doing calculus homework? Listening to 2000s punk rock helps redirect my anger and frustration. Feeling a little sad? Put some Christmas music on to lighten the mood. Even if I’m not actively doing anything, there is almost always a song playing through my head at any given moment.

A Halloween Invitation
An invitation to a party is far more than a placeholder for your diary. It is the signature of your intention. It could include the perfunctory requirements of a toddler's Monster Mash OR it could contain the sniff of a scent that is the tease of anticipation for your....

We The Monsters
Halloween is about horror and monsters and being scared and going to haunted houses and haunted mazes and getting a thrill. However, most are on the human side of things whereas we monsters and demons only have this one night to cross over and wreak havoc on the mortal world. We want to party with our fangs bared, our wings out and our eyes glowing. These are the songs for us.

A Collaborative Halloween Playlist on Spotify
This year for Halloween, my teenage daughter and I are planning a Halloween party with our circle of people. (All vaccinated). The guests are all family and close friends. Aunts, Uncles, siblings, grandkids, teenagers, young adults, gen-Xers, and baby boomers. A multigenerational melting pot, or should I say, cauldron. We have the best time when we are together, and this party will be no exception.

Haunting melodies that leave a mark
What is the scariest thing you can think of? Is it a zombie? No, a fierce creature? A vampire? Let me think some more. Maybe a shark? But they're not really scary in-less you're in the water and in most cases, they're not going to be that interested in you. No, what is the scariest and deadliest creature known to us? Humans. It has to be humans. Of course, Halloween is more about spooky ghosts and ghouls than humans. Let's face it though the most real and scary threat you can face is another unknown human being. If I'm out in the woods all by myself the thought of meeting another unknown human is a truly terrifying thought. I'd rather be out there by myself if I'm completely honest. Following on with that theme is the idea behind this playlist I am about to present to you. A spooky and haunting playlist, however not in a traditional sense. There will be no ghouls or goblins here. Just haunting melodies and musing on the state of the human condition. I mean, after all, what keeps you up at night? The fact there could be a monster under the bed or the possibility the person you're sleeping next to could be a monster and you just don't know it yet...........................
