Dark Shadow Tree Man
It was a hot day like no other. The sky appeared to be made of fire and the trees screamed with thirst when I came across my dark shadow tree man. I sat in my air-conditioned studio with my feet up in my love seat as I stared out my sliding doors across the street at a large oak tree. Hidden in the crevices of the tree were shapes and figures too distant to make out, but one image stuck in my head. Who was that? I asked myself. Out there, within the tree branches, almost embedded within the tree trunk, appeared to be a tall, dark, muscular shadow of a man staring back at me!

Where It Begins... (Ch. 14)
It's 9AM on Sunday morning. I look at my phone to see a group chat between Jessika and Noelle making plans for brunch. Just what I need, good food and good friends. I've decided I am not going to let Khyle get in my head, and I will let things happen as they are meant to happen. I put on my favorite green floral sundress and a pair of wooden wedge heels and head out the door.

No Place Like Home
He pushed open the screen door with his elbow, in his other hand carried two beers. Slowly, he made his way down the wooden steps of the back porch towards a large oak tree in the back yard. She sat with her back to him, gently swaying in the swing attached to that large stately oak tree. Still in her funeral black dress from earlier in the day. Her shoes kicked off to the side. Her toes dirtied in that earthy worn out spot beneath her. Her feet traced circles in the dirt as she went back and forth on the swing. It was a hot Texas summer evening.
