The Goons are the Worst Bosses in Tarkov
(Intro) The Goons, Knight, Big Pipe, and Birdeye are the worst bosses in Tarkov. Now, that’s kind of a loaded statement, and depending on who you ask, and the context surrounding that initial statement, people’s choice for worst boss might be different. Bosses have always been a touchy subject across the entirety of EFT. People have varying opinions about many aspects regarding how they work, their spawn rates, and levels of aggression. It isn’t something that can be boiled down to a single slider going in one direction or the other. The many facets about all the AI also apply to the harder enemies in the game, namely the bosses across the maps. And while each boss provides different levels of challenge through different means, none even come close to the sheer powerhouses that are The Goons. Added with patch 0.12.12 which happened on June 29th 2022, for a while they were this kind of ominous group that could appear out of nowhere, were insanely aggressive, and in some aspects, broke the rules set in place for the world of EFT. And while the challenge is certainly there, it’s generally unfair if they function correctly. Emphasis on if because we’ll be going over that later. Today, I wanted to look at the Goons as a whole, what makes them so powerful, so frustrating to fight, where they fall short, and if they are really the hardest boss in the game.

Customs is Truly the Best Map in the Game
(Intro) Customs is one of the quintessential maps to ever be made for EFT. As one of the oldest maps in the game on offer, it has gone through many different iterations over the years. And with each adjustment or expansion, the map continued to get better. And now in 2025, we have ultimately reached the apex of what this map can offer. I doubt we will be getting any further expansions to it, and there are other maps in the game that need those resources and time put into it. To me, it ranks in the highest position possible for maps that I both enjoy playing, and think are the most immersive in terms of EFT’s world and atmosphere. Tarkov’s Found in Raid Hideout – 51 Days Later
(Intro) So, alongside the flea market changes that we discussed in the previous video, BSG also made it so that upgrading your modules in the hideout now needed the found in raid status for most barter items. A month and a half later, and we’re going to talk about the impact this change has had on the game and how people go about interacting with the hideout. Between the hideout and the flea market, I’d say the latter being locked off for two weeks was more impactful because almost everyone uses the flea market for one reason or another. But the hideout? Technically, you can play the game and never use it. You don’t have to invest any time, money or items into it. But EFT heavily incentivizes you to do so. There’s a lot of good that can come from the hideout, but you need to put in the work to see the fruits of that labor. Either way, a month and a half later, and people are still struggling to get even the basic modules upgraded to progress through the rest of the hideout. I know I was, and honestly are still there. It’s been quite a challenge that will hopefully be either adjusted going forward, or simply reverted for whenever the next wipe will occur.

Tarkov’s Flea Market – 46 Days Later
(Intro) It has been over forty-six days since the start of the wipe, as of the recording for this video. But this wasn’t just a regular wipe. BSG wanted to try some new things with gameplay mechanics that have been integral since their introduction. One of which was completely locking down the flea market for two weeks just to see what would happen. Funnily enough, it ended up being closer to three weeks when everything was all said and done. It was the first time since the flea market was added that the entirety of it was locked off. No barters, no listings. Nothing. I was both excited and interested to see what the general consensus was going to be from the community. I had a feeling that people would despise the change and just want it back. But to my surprise, it seemed like people were okay with it being gone for two weeks. On top of that BSG was collecting data once the market was back through an in-game survey which we will be looking at and discussing too. So, let’s talk about Tarkov’s flea market, over a month later and how it might not be as universally loved in the early game as some might’ve thought.

Covert Movement in Tarkov Works Again
(Intro) It finally feels like Tarkov has allowed players to be sneaky in combat once more. For the longest time, players had major difficulties with being sneaky in raid; finding opportunities to ambush a player or even group of players without being heard from a mile away. There have been a lot of changes culminating in this style of play feeling viable once more. Funnily enough, none of them directly targeting covert movement the soft skill. But a lot of other changes around audio and how players move. From headsets sounding and functioning differently, to a new audio system that is now universal across all players, after what has felt like years of not being able to be quiet when you want to be, there is now reason and advantage to sometimes slowing down and just listening to what’s around you. And I don’t even mean in the sense of holding out in a single location waiting for someone to walk into you. I am talking about aggressively being quiet, and taking out other players before they ever even knew you were there. Covert movement is back in full force; it’s been a long time coming.
