He Was Right

Verse 1
He was an angry young man aiming fury at an old typewriter
Pouring everything his heart and soul felt onto the keys
He became the voice of a restless generation
Speaking truths no one wanted to believe
Verse 2
His words were like bullets shooting through their false pretenses
And the ink in his pen was poison to the lies they’d long believed
He was defiant in a world that feared men that are too honest
He refused to let his words be left unseen
Chorus
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it
He was right, He was right and they tried to shut him down
He was right, He was right and the truth he kept on fighting for
Still lives in every line he carved into his pages.
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it.
Verse 3
He was painted at home as a difficult child
They couldn't accept light shining on the lies they told themselves
And how the words he wrote defined the futility of their lives
He wrote from a fierce hot anger that was too long felt
Verse 4
His fury was the only thing that moved them
And the world around him tightened when he spoke
His convictions didn’t resonate in those who claimed they loved him
It just scared the hell out of them because the status quo was broken
Chorus
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it
He was right, He was right and they tried to shut him down
He was right, He was right and the truth he kept on fighting for
Still lives in every line he carved into his pages.
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it.
No.... The world couldn’t take it
Bridge
Verse 2
His words outlived the ones who tried to stop him
His truth outlasted every hand that pushed him down
What he wrote became the ground beneath the broken
The fire he ignited rose in others as they learned to stand their ground
Chorus
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it
He was right, He was right and they tried to shut him down
He was right, He was right and the truth he kept on fighting for
Still lives in every line he carved into his pages.
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it.
No.... the world couldn’t take it
He was right
