The Not so Common Sense View of the Uvalde Shootings
According to popular belief, there is this phenomenon we like to call common sense. This thing called common sense is supposed to help guide us in our everyday decision-making, from mundane acts in the privacy of our homes to public acts that may affect complete strangers. Generally, common sense reminds us to keep our hands out of fires or to not drive our cars where people are walking.

Is Freedom of Speech Dying?
The history of freedom of speech in the west seemingly begins properly in the radical enlightenment movement in which we see a huge interest in the idea of full freedom of expression. In comparison to Voltaire and other more moderate enlightenment philosophers, the radical enlightenment focuses on ‘the entire truth of what is known to men should be expressed so as to be accessible and available to all.’ Israel, J.I. (2011). The argument is that this is a very extreme form of freedom of speech which seems to have a disregard for consequence, which is against of what freedom of speech actually stands for and J.I Israel argues in the chapter. Moderate enlightenment however, seeks to understand the rights and responsibilities on both sides of freedom of speech, but for its moderate nature is still at risk of leading towards censorship. The challenge is to meet the line between the moderate and the radical in order to respect the ideas, seek to facilitate the ideas with platform and critique those ideas without censorship. In the modern day, many have analysed how the idea of freedom of speech is moving backwards in which freedom of speech is becoming censored to the point where entire arguments have been shut down from Internet services and critical accounts on social media have been suspended with the people themselves being ‘cancelled’ in a culture which promotes this behaviour.

Americans Are Sick and Tired of "Thoughts and Prayers"
It's been a while since I've written a story on Vocal. I thought I'd talk about something that continues to infuriate me and probably it does for you as well. I'm seething in anger and Americans are tired of what I'm about to discuss. You're probably aware of the recent shooting that occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, which is west of San Antonio, where 21 people were killed (19 children and two teachers). It's the deadliest school shooting in Texas history.

Civilized Society
In a world of such abundance, how do we allow others to go without? Food scarcity let alone lack of nutritional produce. Mineral content has been under attack for years from big corporations. We allow drug addiction and homelessness to run rampant. I know free will and all, and I do get that. We need a collective of individuals perhaps that band together. Integrate sustainability in regards to growing local crops of nutritional value. Every neighborhood should have some sort of hydroponically cultivated fresh produce. In retrospect to the on going crisis in Ukraine" ".. The utilization of fish incorporated into the hydroponics water system will provide an adequate source of fertilizer to feed the growing vegetables / crops / marijuana even. If that float's your boat. Gas prices, heating bill's the cost of living in general on the rise. I know the energy companies love making money, and that's cool and all but gesh. How long is enough, I say we jumpstart the real source of renewable energy. Stop tinkering around with nuclear, which from past mishaps/ coverups/ leaks. We see the devastating effects ionizing radiation can do to our ecosystem our homeostasis within the body on molecular levels. The manipulation of our genes, hindering our organic doorway to the creator. Who decides in this world who lives who dies. Which elderly individual has reached their so called economically sound age to be culled. Which habitual less then desirable will be put to death for the beneficial standpoint of the hive. It just seems like we're drifting further away from what we really could be. I've alway's been under the impression that carbon was a necessary element.

In fact, it is receding, but many factors of conflict remain and war is adapting to the evolution of techniques (digitization, nanotechnology) as well as the ways of thinking (waging wars without victims, at a distance); Europe cannot pretend that violent conflicts are definitely a thing of the past.

When Will Black America Shoot Back?
May is mental health awareness month in the United States, but in reality, one group has been under attack for their basic freedoms since the 1800s. Black America is under attack as they are now the fourth living generation of African descendants of the transatlantic slave trade to deal with a version of mental enslavement. They still remain the only active race inside America whose origin story looks and sounds like the beginning of the popular animated film, Encanto. A group of people running for their life. The system of power in America is built against this specific group.

The Ongoing Crisis Should Not Be Wasted
It is always wise to try to search for the positives around you, especially in the midst of a crisis situation. It may seem impossible to accomplish at the time, and you may not always have control over the circumstances. However, you do possess the power to control how you react and control the crisis as opposed to being controlled by the crisis. Instead of getting distracted and lost in turmoil, if one chooses to focus on any good that can emerge from it like knowledge gained, lessons learned, and potential growth, neither the future nor the present needs to be so grim.
