Commanders grant two time Pro Bowl DT Jonathan Allen permission to seek a trade.
Commanders grant two time Pro Bowl DT Jonathan Allen permission to seek a trade. In a significant development the Washington Commanders have granted defensive tackle Jonathan Allen permission to seek a trade as reported by CBS Sports. This move comes as Allen enters the final year of his contract carrying a non guaranteed base salary of $15.5 million for the 2025 season. Allen a two-time Pro Bowler has been a cornerstone of the Commanders' defense since being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Over his eight year tenure with Washington Allen has consistently demonstrated his prowess on the defensive line. In 2021 he secured a four year $72 million contract extension underscoring the team's commitment to him. He rewarded this investment with back to back Pro Bowl seasons. However the 2024 season was marred by a torn pectoral muscle limiting him to just eight regular season games during which he recorded three sacks. Despite his injury Allen returned to participate in all three of Washington's postseason contests showcasing his resilience and dedication.
