Pride Anthems
Let's start this off with what must be said! Happy June and Happy Pride! Pride is a special month to me and to many other people in the world. It's also a month where we need to remember our roots and what has led us to this point in history. It's also a month of celebration, and celebration cannot be accomplished without music. At least not in my world.

Taegong Anthems
Before Dal Gong-gi had his wife and kids, he was the lead singer of VALENTINE COOKIE. Now in his thirties, he's convinced the K-Pop life is over. He's in for a shock when his former manager/ex-girlfriend, Flo Glitz knocks at his door. She forces him out of retirement in a new project as punishment for breaching his old contract. Dal Gong-gi is now one half of Taegong with fresh-faced Gang Taeyang. Together they must convince the world that they are madly in love with each other. As Taegong dominate the charts with their catchy tunes, they touch the hearts of many. Gong-gi becomes conflicted between Flo Glitz's gun or fuel Taeyang's passionate attraction towards him.

Dance n Chill Kmusic Hits
As an introvert who already enjoys being inside, the quarantine hasn’t been too troubling for me. Nonetheless, I do realize how hard it can be for those who love the outdoors or hanging out with friends & such. So, I decided to create a playlist of my favorite Kmusic songs and let you know why I picked them. Here are my Kmusic Picks: (There's a link to my playlist at the end as well)

The Intersection of Black Femininity and Queerness
I grew up curious and queer. Out of place amidst the expectations of a violently heteronormative and denominational country. When I got accepted to attend an all-girls secondary school, I distinctly remember family members joking: "Don't become a lesbian. We'll disown you." Haha, super funny. This was the early 2000s when being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community was still something you whispered about in hushed tones and hid relentlessly from your family and friends. There was virtually no queer representation in the media and even less so for those who happened to be queer and black (at the same time!).

A Rainbow of Gay Anthems That Show What Pride Sounds Like
Whether openly or otherwise, LGBT artists have been shaping popular music for over a century. As early as the 1890’s, jazz musicians, arrangers, and composers cloaked their identity in smooth rhythms and suggestive lyrics. Queer artists like Ma Rainey and Billie Holiday sang about encounters with the same sex all the way back in the '30s. Billy Tipton, another prominent jazz musician at the time, was revealed as a transgender man after his death in 1989. These artists set the stage for pop music's love of the subversive, the androgynous, and the proudly authentic.

Pride
Everyone enjoys music. It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from. Music seems to bring out the colors of everybody no matter who listens. With Pride month on the rise, artists and supporters around the globe will share their favorite tunes, embrace the peace, and the love everyone knows how to offer the best that they can. Enough said; let's let Can share her favorite tunes to jam to for pride (see below):

Pride 2021 Playlist
Coming off of the tumultuous and grim year that was 2020, it is only natural and expected that LGBTQ folks around the country and the community's allies want to go big during this year's Pride festivities. We're welcoming a sense of normalcy during Pride by heading to the dancefloors, hitting up a parade, or perhaps a small and intimate party. Whatever the case, a loud and proud playlist is essential for all and every Pride occasion. Music has always been at the forefront of queer celebration, providing a sonic landscape for LGBTQ folks to let loose and be free amongst each other. From classic dance tracks to modern hits, every Pride playlist has to include iconic staples as well as current queer anthems.
